The Ratzinger Studies Centre is connected with cooperation between the Joseph Ratzinger, Benedict XVI Vatican Foundation and Kujawy and Pomorze University in Bydgoszcz. Its activity focuses on academic dialogue, theological reflection, scientific conferences and cooperation between Polish and international universities.

The Centre is not a separate higher education institution. It acts as a coordinating academic centre that supports dialogue, research-oriented initiatives and cooperation between universities.

Formal cooperation established in 2012

The cooperation was formally confirmed on 23 April 2012 through an agreement between the Joseph Ratzinger, Benedict XVI Vatican Foundation and Kujawy and Pomorze University.

From academic cooperation to an international centre of dialogue

The history of the Centre is connected with cooperation between the Joseph Ratzinger, Benedict XVI Vatican Foundation and the University in Bydgoszcz. One of the first results of this cooperation was the international scientific conference “One World, Many Cultures. Dialogue of Cultures, Civilizations and Religions in the Age of Globalization”, held in 2011. The Centre promotes knowledge and studies in the field of theology and the teaching of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger. It also organizes and supports scientific conferences, recognises scholars and students, and coordinates cooperation between universities in Poland and abroad.
